If you are interested in working with Mission Relief you may want to contact Brad Shields about Mount Vernon Men's Ministry or you can contact Samaritan's Purse.
As a volunteer for Samaritan Purse you get to pick which projects. We do ask that you prayerfully consider each project before committing to one. To volunteer on one of our Disaster Relief sites, it is not necessary to be trained beforehand. We gladly accept both skilled and unskilled volunteers. Once a volunteer signs up with us they will receive a packet of pre-trip information. Then when you arrive on the project site you will have an orientation and someone will train you on whatever you will be working on that day.
Once you pick a project from our website, http://spvolunteernetwork.org/, click on the “New User” button to fill out a registration form. Once the form is submitted one of our volunteer coordinators will contact you about the rest of the application process and scheduling. After you are scheduled you will receive your pre-trip packet and other information. As a Samaritan’s Purse volunteer, we provide food and lodging while you are on site. The only expense to you is your cost of travel to and from the project and transportation to and from the site while you are on the project.
We can also add your name and email to our Email Distribution list. This way, when we respond to a disaster or have an urgent need for volunteers, this list will be among the first to receive a notice.
Please let me know if you have anyone that would like me to do this.
Please let me know if I can answer any more questions. We look forward to working with you in the future. Have a wonderful and blessed day.
